Hello Families,

Welcome to an exciting year at EMDC! The children are learning new routines and schedules and seem happy to be here with their teachers and friends. It’s going to be an amazing year of growth and wonder for your little ones.

I’d like to thank all of you that attended our parent open house.  All the school supplies and donations are very much appreciated.

Here are just a few bits of information:

  • Please be sure your child has plenty of sunscreen and extra clothes during these summer months. The children spend a lot of time playing outdoors.
  • Please remember to sign your child in and out in the book located just outside their classroom.  We are required by state and the district to do so.
  • Please be sure to grab your communication journal each day when you pick up your child.  It goes back and forth daily and allows us to share information that doesn't always get communicated directly to you as it can sometimes be a little hectic at drop-off and pick-up.
  • Library checkout is on a two-week rotation this year.  Library for our Preschool and Pre-K Classrooms will begin Thursday, October 5th. Please return books by Wednesday of library week so that your child can check out another book on library day. Ms. CJ, the librarian from Shining Stars, will come here and do story time with our kiddos beginning Thursday, September 7th.
  • Our new teacher, Samantha Drake,  will be joining Ms. Mia in the Preschool Classroom beginning Tuesday, September 5th. Her hours will be 9:00am – 4:30pm.  She has worked in a daycare setting for the past five years and is planning to pursue a degree in education.  We're so excited to have her join our team.
  • Ms. Renee's last day will be Friday, September 8th.  She is unable to continue working here due to her very busy schedule.  We wish her the best.
  • We will have several volunteers at our center this year.  They have all gone through the volunteer process and/or are employees with RRPS. Solana Armijo is coming back this year.  She is attends Cleveland HS and is part of the National Honor Society.  She is very sweet and kind and loves being here with the children.  She will be here Wednesday or Thursday afternoons.  Barb Dougherty worked at SSPS for 11 years and is now doing her practicum at EMDC every Wednesday from 8:30-4:30, until the end of October.  Dianne Johnson works at SSPS and will be with us on Wednesdays, 8:00-4:00 as part of her professional development.

I’m always happy to help.  Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

To many happy days,

Hello Parents,

We're so happy to be back!  We're excited to be a part of all the growth that will take place with your little one this year.
We love to sing all nursery rhymes with your little ones, but Baa, Baa, Black Sheep seems to be a favorite, so that's the one we'll be focusing most on this month. We will also be teaching a few baby signs like "play" and "sing".
Thank you for sharing your children with us every day.

Ms. Sam, Ms. Dani and Ms. Deb

Toddler Room - Ms. Heatherlyn, Ms. Yolanda, Ms. Heather & Ms. Melissa

Happy September parents!
This month we are doing dinosaur, fall, and leaf themes! We are looking forward to dinosaur prints and leaf rubbings. Our nursery rhyme will be 'Itsy, Bitsy Spider'.

Just a reminder, we are implementing the communication journal for each child in our classroom.  These journals are a way for staff to communicate better and more in-depth than typical drop-off/pick-up conversations, as we realize these times can be hectic.  Your child's communication journal can be found in their mailbox, next to the daily sign-in book.

Welcome Back Little Ones and Parents,

Summer break has gone by so fast! I am glad to see the little ones back in class, ready to learn and having tons of fun with each other. The kids have adjusted well to their new classroom and are happy to see their friends and make new friends as well. The month of August was an adjustment period for the children to get to know their teachers and to get use to their new classroom. All the children are having tons of fun! Which makes me happy!

For September, we will be going over and working on school and playground safety and create projects based on shapes, colors and “all about me”. My goal this year is to make learning fun for the kids. I am super excited for the new school year and happy to be working with your children. My classroom is always open to parents, so feel free to ask questions or come in to visit. Let’s make this a wonderful school year for our children.

Just a reminder, please take your communication journal home daily.  They are in a basket next to the sign in/out book.

                                                                                      Thank you,

                                                                                      Ms. Mia & Ms. Samantha

Pre-K Classroom - Ms. Anna & Ms. Nicole

Welcome Back!  We hope everyone had a fantastic summer.  It's that time of year that we all have to get back on a schedule.  The children are getting familiar with the routine.  They're enjoying making new friends and rediscovering old friendships.
In September, we will be learning about pets and fall.  We will introduce activities to help them to recognize and create their names.  As always, we will doing a fun science and food project.  Please be sure to check our board and lesson plans for what we're planning.
Just a reminder to take your communication journal home daily.  They are in a basket by the sign in/out book.
