Summer School and Summer Activities: 2018

Summer Meal Program:
Children ages 1-18 can obtain a FREE breakfast and lunch every weekday, Monday through Friday, from May 29 through August 10 (except for Wednesday, July 4).

    Breakfast: 8:00-9:00 am / Lunch: 11:00-12:30 pm
  • Star Heights Recreation Center, 800 Polaris Blvd.
    Breakfast: 8:00-9:00 am / Lunch: 11:30 am-1:00 pm
  • Sabana Grande Recreation Center,4110 Sabana Grande Blvd.
    Breakfast: 8:00-9:00 am / Lunch: 11:00 am-12:30 pm

Summer School:

Elementary School:
Admission to elementary summer school is by teacher recommendation only for current RRPS students exiting grades K-5.

High School:  

Two sessions of summer school are held each year: one session in June and one session in July.  Each session consists of 14 days - five (5) hours per day.  Student are notified by their home school in the spring what credits they are short.  Deadline for registration for the first summer session (5/29-6/15) is May 18

Summer school offers academic core courses in English Language Arts, math, science, and social studies, along with limited other course opportunities offered for credit recovery only.

Academics-related activities:
  • AYD Academy (for current RRPS students entering 9th grade): The Academic Youth Development (AYD) Academy is designed to help 8th graders to navigate the transition to high school and to improve their math skills to be ready for Algebra I.

  • June 3-27(Monday-Friday): 8 AM – 12:15 PM
  • Native American Summer Academy: This fun-filled educational program is open to Native American students grades K-12 (must have a 506c form on file).  It includes field trips, guest speakers, team-building activities, and more!  Breakfast, lunch, and snacks are provided.

  •  July 16-26, Monday-Thursday, 8AM-5PM  More information coming soon!

Athletic Camps:

Sports graphicYoung people of all ages from kindergarten through high school are invited to participate in summer athletic camps conducted by our Cleveland High and Rio Rancho High coaches.  The links below will take you to each school's menu of fun summer sports opportunities!  Information on these pages is updated by the two high schools as it becomes available.
