Parent Safety Trainings

RRPS logo The safety of our schools is always a top priority. We believe that together we all play an important part in ensuring that safety.  And now, parents have the opportunity to become informed and learn some ways in which they can help keep our schools and students safe.

Rio Rancho Public Schools is partnering with the Rio Rancho Police Department and the Attorney General's
Office to offer safety training sessions for parents throughout the 2016-17 school year.

Thursday, November 3: Recognizing the Signs of Drug Use

This session will help you as a parent recognize and identify behaviors or signs that indicate your child or child’s friends may be experimenting with drugs, what methods or interventions parents can use to help prevent drug use,
and overall awareness of drug use among kids.

Thursday, February 2: Bullying

This session will help you, as a parent, understand bullying, recognize t
he signs your child or child’s friend is being bullied or is bullying another student, and the consequences of bullying.

Thursday, April 6: Active Shooter
RRPS Safety & Security and Rio Rancho Police Department
This session will provide survival techniques in the event of an active shooter. We will also touch on gun safety in the home and highlight the importance of reporting strange or inappropriate behaviors your child or child’s friends may be exhibiting.
